My Bestfriends

It was about 7 in the morning when the company service reach Ticala, Valencia, Negros Oriental. T’was the first time I’ve come that place. After attending the flag ceremony, the company vehicle transports us again to Puhagan, another barangay of Valencia situated on the upper part of the mountains. This is my first day of work at Philippine National Oil Company – Energy Development Corporation (PNOC-EDC). I was assigned at PAL-I Maintenance Department which is located in Puhagan. When I entered the office, I was greeted by many people whom I noticed are all men. I felt quite nervous as I don’t see someone of my age. All the people in the office were looking at me. They are very hospitable and friendly but despite their smiles, I did not felt relaxed then. I am so nervous. This is my first day and I didn’t expect to find an office full of men.

I just sat down on a table and waited for instructions, when I heard noises at the back of the office. Later, I heard a voice of a girl laughing with the boys. And there, a “kikay” girl showed at the door and smiled sweetly to me. We were introduced to each other as office mates. I was so happy and I felt relaxed already. That was the first time I met Michelle (Michelle Abante Tepoc). That was January 24, 2005.

Michelle is a very nice person. Back then, she helps me overcome my fear with the place (it is in the mountains) and she always invited me to their house. Instantly, Michelle and I became good friends.

Many things happen. Michelle pursued her studies and I was left alone (the only girl in the office). After almost a year, I also moved to another company. But Michelle and I were remains not just good friends but the best of friends. We hang out together and talk non-sense things. Our common attitude is that we always notice “cute boys” and laugh and talk like we know them. It’s our past time. Greenwich (Dumaguete) is our favorite place to hang out. Michelle always treat me “lasagna” and “pizza” there. And I missed it already…

Michelle is already at the Wisconsin, but distance is not a hindrance of being best friends. We chat, email and call each other if time permits. Time flies, and so the years. But this we promised, we will always be there for each other and remain bestfriends till the end.

Miss you friend Mitch!!!

It was a constant hang-out between me and Michelle. We are on our way to Greenwich when she told me that she wants to invite another friend of her, which she just also met weeks ago. We both went to the parlor to fetch her friend. Arriving at the parlor, I saw a familiar looking girl. She smiled and joked to Michelle. Michelle had also introduced us. She’s Leslie (Leslie Anne Lado Bacla), a new friend of Michelle which happened to be a schoolmate of mine during my high school days. On that very simple acquaintance, I never thought Leslie and I would become best of friends too. Leslie is very cool. She is funny and we think the same. We both accompanied Michelle when she was still working on her papers for abroad. And Leslie became one of us. She is already part of the friendship me and Mitch have.

She’s a very supportive friend and a happy type of a person too. We both went to Michelle’s house at Valencia to visit Michelle. That time, Michelle was already scheduled to fly weeks after. The experience we have, the fun and the adventure are very unforgettable. It binds the three of us to become bestfriends for life.

Couple of months after Michelle has departed, Leslie also went abroad. I was left here in the Philippines but I didn’t feel sad at all. I know they’re both in good hands and we still are bestfriends. We reach each other through call, emails and chat.

Thanks for being there for us friend Leslie. I miss you too.

This song is for the both of you:

Many people say true friends are hard to find
but I know i’m not that kind
they come and go and sometimes leave us behind
like a wind that passes by

[chorus]
`Cause when you need a friend
that you can depend
you can count on me because
you’re my best friend
when you’re feeling down
and your heart is hurt
you can call on me
and I will be there for you friend

Good things may come
and that bad things may go
like that love long time ago
you’re like a ship that’s sailing across the sea
through the waves that’s so unkind

[chorus]
`Cause when you need a friend
that you can depend
you can count on me because
you’re my best friend
when you’re feeling down
and your heart is hurt
you can call on me
and I will be there for you friend

[chorus]
`cause when you need a friend
that you can depend
you can count on me because
you’re my best friend
when you’re feeling down
and your heart is hurt
you can call on me
and I will be there for you

When you need a friend
that you can depend
you can count on me because
you’re my best friend
when you’re feeling down
and your heart is hurt
you can call on me
and I will be there for you friend
